As a Careers Leader of Careers & Enterprise Company, we wanted to let you know about a programme of interest to the schools in your area.
Taste for Work is a brand-new employability programme from McDonald’s in collaboration with the National Schools Partnership.
The programme teaches young people aged 14-19 the key skills that they’ll need in the workplace – starting with Communication. It is Skills Builder accredited, meets Gatsby Benchmarks and is curriculum-linked to England, Scotland, Wales, NI and ROI.
It’s already hit the ground running with over 400 schools signed up in the first month! And it’s completely free to sign-up.
Don’t let your schools miss out – let them know they can access the free resources here 😊.
What is Taste for Work?
Taste for Work is a series of immersive challenges set in real-world scenarios which teach your pupils the essential Skills Builder skills they need for their future career.
It starts with the Communication Challenge, which guides students through three different types of language to help build their speaking skills.
Students will hear from real-world employees about how to use communication skills in the workplace and actively work to develop ‘Skills Builder Speaking Skill Step 5’ and meet Gatsby Benchmarks. Nasen have approved the challenge for all abilities, meaning students with additional needs will be able to benefit too!
What’s inside the Communication Challenge?
The Communication Challenge has been designed to be delivered as a 2-hour session, or it can be broken up and delivered separately in tutor times across a week.
It is fully-resourced with everything you need to run the lesson right-away, including:

- The 2-hour lesson presentation
- Student workbook
- Assembly presentation to share with the whole school
- A certificate of completion for your students
- Poster for your school
- An informative letter for parents and carers
- A list of the curriculum links for each nation
